A Tehran-based international law and finance expert, Dr. Shahram Shirkhani has led the International Law Firm of Shirkhani & Alavi since 2005. In this capacity, he manages a veteran team of five colleagues with detailed knowledge of the Iranian banking system and relevant laws and regulations. He counsels Iranian and foreign corporations in diverse financial industry and commercial undertakings spanning international investments, as well as arbitration and litigation proceedings. Dr. Shahram Shirkhani’s firm primarily serves the needs and interests of Iranian financial institutions and corporate entities conducting business in Middle Eastern and European countries.

From 1998 to 2005, Dr. Shirkhani led International Law & Trade Consultants in Tehran as a founding partner. He and his team advised major Iranian firms in acquisitions in the oil and gas sectors. Their work included setting up an international loan syndicate that enabled aircraft financing for MAHAN AIR. Dr. Shahram Shirkhani additionally guided the establishment of a Saudi Arabian Airlines GSA presence in Iran and facilitated funding for industrial and oil initiatives encompassing Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. One of the firm's major projects involved arranging acquisition of Oil Industry Investment Company, which comprised more than 30 firms representing upstream and downstream aspects of the gas and oil sectors.

Prior to founding International Law & Trade Consultants, Dr. Shahram Shirkhani held primary responsibilities as Associate Professor with Islamic Azad University in Tehran. Throughout much of the 1990s, he taught classes in international commercial arbitration and international private law. He also consulted on diverse commercial transactions with Adib Law Firm, including financing deals for the Municipality of Oroumieh and the City of Tehran. Dr. Shirkhani continues to hold a tenured professorial position with Islamic Azad University. In his free time, Dr. Shahram Shirkhani enjoys playing chess, swimming, reading, and traveling.
